Caloundra Music Festival

October 2010

The third annual Caloundra Music Festival is held in the heart of the Kings Beach Tourist precinct.
This festival feature the best of the Australian music industry as well as famous international artists. There will be a colourful street parade, roving performers, beach-side carnival, buskers, free kid's entertainment, food and market stalls.

 

Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival

October 27th - 31st October 2010

The Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival is steeped in rich history and uniqueness not matched anywhere in the world. The festival is brought together with an irresistible mix of sport and entertainment coupled with sun, sea and surf in one of Australia's most popular destinations. The weeklong festival of swimming, cycling, running, triathlon events for everyone from 7-80+, two golf tournaments (celebrity and corporate), massive sport and lifestyle expo, corporate/VIP facilities and a serious after Party you'll also need to train for.
The highlight of the festival is the triathlon which draws 5,500 triathletes each year to the Olympic-distance course (1.5km swim, 40km cycle, 10km run). The Noosa Tri is the 3rd largest triathlon in the world only surpassed by London and Chicago.

Noosa Historic Hill Climb

 November 15th - 16th 2009 

Two days of historic cars racing up "the Hill" at Gyndier Drive.  Competitors come from far afield trying to beat their own times with 3 to 4 runs per car each day. Australian PGA Championship

Congratulations to Robert Allenby for a thrilling win in the 2009 PGA Championship.
In 2010, the Hyatt Regency Coolum, will again host Australia’s oldest golf professional tournament and the flagship event of the PGA of Australia.  The event attracts some of the biggest names in professional golf with a sensational field of golfing talent expected.
The 2010 tournament dates will be announced in April. 
This event provides golfing fans a chance to get up close to the best Australian golfing talent in a spectacular Sunshine Coast setting. The event boasts a proud reputation for being Australia’s most relaxed and enjoyable elite sporting tournament.
With a family friendly atmosphere, players and spectators alike are able to enjoy the stunning surrounds of Coolum and with an endless array of activities for both locals and visitors, this championship is one golf event not to be missed.

Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival / ITU Global Series

The Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival is an end of season tradition, and what better way to see out another Australian summer than this festival long weekend.

160 of the world’s best triathlete’s will come together on Sunday 28th March to contest the first leg of the International Triathlon Union’s (ITU) global series.

Since the first Mooloolaba Triathlon in 1992 the event has grown to become the second largest triathlon in Australia behind its counterpart Noosa, which opens the triathlon season.

The Olympic distance (1.5km swim, 40km cycle, 10km run) Mooloolaba Triathlon is the centrepiece of a 3 day multisport festival that celebrates the best of the Australian summer lifestyle, at one of the world’s premier beachside resort locations. 

The Australian Body Art Carnival

13-15 May 2011

2011 will see the forth Australian Body Art Carnivale, bringing together cutting-edge artists and designers from far and wide.
The Carnivale will again be ‘A Festival of Colour’ centred around body art in its many and varied forms – from the more readily seen art form of face painting right through to cutting-edge full body painting in the three categories of airbrush, sponge and brush, and special effects.
The Australian Body Art Carnivale provides a unique opportunity for Australia’s top body artists and face painters to compete, and is a springboard for emerging body artists to develop their skills.

The Noosa Long Weekend

The Noosa Long Weekend is an annual 10 day event combining arts and culture with sun and sand.   The festival includes theatre, dance, music, visual arts, food, film, literature and thought-provoking, barrier-breaking forums that has become recognised as one of Australia's foremost regional cultural events. 
The Noosa Longweekend presents a broad program of ticketed, low-cost and free events that entertains, enlivens and inspires its many different audiences.

Pomona King of the Mountain

The day starts at 7.30am with the famous poets breakfast.  At 8am the 10km run and the 3km family jog get underway.  Primary school relays follow later in the morning as entertainment continues in the park with live bands, clowns, side show alley, a great variety of food and drink and many special events.  The day climaxes at 3pm with the International Mountain Race.  Runners from many parts of the world assemble to try to conquer this short but probably one of the world's most gruelling races.

The Festival of the Walks

The Festival of the Walks is a two-week long celebration over Father's Day, 2011. The absolute beauty and charm of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland offers visitors the opportunity to experience a magnificent selection of rainforest and mountain walks, ranging from easy to strenuous, from 20 minute strolls to walks of several days.

Experience some of the range's most scenic areas: warm subtropical rainforest, tall open eucalypt forest and picturesque waterfalls.

The area has many superb walks. Individual walks maps have been produced for the most popular walks. These are available at the local information centres or can be down loaded from the Maps section of this site.
The Individual walks maps provide the opportunity for visitors to the area to enjoy a self guided tour.
The maps highlight points of interest and other useful information. They are available free of charge!
Walking groups may be conducting guided walks in the area during the Festival. Visitors are encouraged to contact these groups direct if looking for a guided walk. Contact details appear on this site under the walking groups section.

Noosa Jazz Festival

The Noosa Jazz Festival's four day celebration of hot food and cool jazz will be celebrating its 20th year in 2011. Each Festival features more than 150 passionate and vibrant national and international artists, offering a huge amount of opportunities for visitors and locals to see them in action. The 2008 Festival will again offer all styles of jazz from traditional to modern, swing, contemporary, dixie, funk and blues. 
 

The Tin Can Bay Seafood Festival

September 2011

The Tin Can Bay Seafood Festival, a fun packed day including free activities, music, and variety of hot and cold seafood and other delicious tempters.
Music, fashion parades, competitions, belly dancing and Various activities are held throughout the day. Local fishing information and market stalls
are on display in the park. There will be cooking demos, motor bike and veteran car displays.
Catch a helicopter joy flight and view extensive waterways from above. There are Camel and pony rides, Laser Tag and many more activities
for the kids. A great family fun day on the Sunshine Coast between Noosa and Hervey Bay. Next years event will be held on September TBA, 2011.

Noosa Beach Classic Car Show

September 2011

The event takes place at Noosa Heads Lions Park, with up to 300 classic cars on display alongside the picturesque Noosa River, close to Hastings Street which is known for its café and shopping culture. Entertainment, food and drinks are available on the day.
Marque of the Year - Maserati. Free shuttle bus will operate between the venue and the Cinema Complex, Noosa Junction. Spectators, from 9am - 2pm, Admission $5, children under 14 free if accompanied by an adult. Entrants, from 6am - 9am, Admission $15 (includes car and 2 passengers). phone 0437 649 192
 

IGA Coolum Kite Festival

The IGA Coolum Kite Festival is an event not to be missed. It is one of the Sunshine Coasts largest anual events. 
The unique and spectacular free festival of kite flying and kitesurfing, features hundreds of different kites of all shapes and sizes. Highlights also include celebreties from overseas, quality roving entertainment, giant aerial displays, and skydivers.  There is a lantern parade, sand sculpture displays, craft workshops, bands, Kids zone,and fireworks.  This festival now attracts over 40,000 people and is fas becoming one of the most popular Sunshine Coast events.
